How to remotely shutdown Windows XP

If you have ever tried to shutdown a machine using the Remote Desktop feature, you probably noticed that the Turn Off Computer function is missing from the remote desktop's start menu. So how does one shutdown a remote machine using Remote Desktop? Here's one way:

  1. Login to the machine using Remote Desktop.

  2. Click somewhere on desktop (but not on icon or taskbar).

  3. Press ALT+F4.

  4. Proceed as desired.
