Christmas cookie recipe

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1½ cups of sugar (alternatively 1 cup white sugar and ½ cup brown sugar)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition. Add vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt. Roll out to 1/8", cut into shapes and bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 6 - 8 minutes at 375°F (190°C).
